I’m no longer hosting a Debian Apt server for some BeagleBone Black packages. The rest of this page remains for historical reasons. I’m open to hosting suggestions if you have them…
The following packages are available:
- cryptodev-linux: The compiled cryptodev kernel module. It’s build against 3.8.13-bone26 and will probably only work with this version.
- openssl: This is a hardware acceleration compiled version of openssl. It is meant to co-exist with the normal openssl (i.e. you should install the normal one first, especially because I didn’t specify any dependencies for this package).
Add my apt server’s key:
wget -O - http://zaphod.datko.net/apt/debian/conf/datko_zaphod.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
Add the server to your /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://zaphod.datko.net/apt/debian wheezy main
Finally:
apt-get update
I followed these instructions for server setup.
This box appears to be down.
So, I thought it would be fun to use a Swiss provider for hosting. But the novelty ran off after my bill changed each month with the Euro. I’m open to cheap and reliable virtual hosting suggestions 🙂
I can go digging for these if you want, but the cryptodev module wasn’t too reliable. In 3.13 the OMAP crypto drivers are available (or they could be backported to 3.8) which I think would provide some better stability. Although, that’s just a guess.
It was also a royal pain to get everything statically linked and to play nicely together.
Hey, if you need a simple hosting server i suggest to look at http://www.kimsufi.com it’s a very keen dedicated (not virtual) server for hobby usage i use myself. The traffic seems a relative low class of service in datacenter compared with the pricier offers from partent company OVH ( e.g. very little paket loss on peak times, less backbone routes ). But a very reasonable price for a 100MBit traffic flat.
Hint: Don’t wait for the KS-1, i have never seen any available. They are sold out in seconds… You can monitor the availability here https://twitter.com/kimsufi_avail
Thanks! That looks like a good deal. I’ll keep my eye out.
